Default HELP! Removing radiator fans

I'm working on my 2005 XK8 trying to remove fans. I've watched all the videos I can find where the fan is setting on a table after they have removed it which isn't any help at all. The videos I've watched are on earlier XK's and thinking the 2005 is different. I got the right or passenger side (USA} side flange where it fastens with a nut and bolt above the radiator hose and it is now as solid as if it were bolted to something. Can't see what its hanging on. Thinking I might have to remove the radiator hoses. Any idea.

Thanks
Jack

Hi,
It looks a whole lot harder on the 4.2L
Best I can offer is the attached JTIS procedure (beware it shouts a lot at the beginning...).

If you do need to remove the rad hose(s), this widget will make your life a lot easier:

I removed the radiator fan assembly in my wife's 2006 XK8 in July 2018 as part of the alternator refurbishment / serpentine belt replacement job I did then. I do not remember having any difficulty pulling the fan assembly up and out of the engine bay. So I checked my notes from that day and there is nothing in them indicating that I had any trouble removing the fan assembly. Have you tried leveraging the top of the fan assembly around with a large screwdriver to see if it will move for you?

2 bolts and it lifts out

if you cut the wings off where the bolts mount to you don’t have to remove the rad hose

I know i had problems at the same point at my xk8 4.2

The transmission oil lines go into the radiator on the left side. thats the problem pulling it out i guess.

as those lines were so hard to get lose i left the fan frame in the car.
would be nice if you make some pictures if you get it removed

Thanks for all the replys. I got it out. The idea, remove the two bolts and lift it out ain't going to happen on this one, As xalty said, you could lift it out if you cut the wings off. I got it out by zig zaging it up and out while guiding the bottom wings around the oil lines.. The engine oil line coupling was catching the lower wings but wasn't able to see that at first. It's a pain getting upper wings around top radiator hose because of the transmission hose on the other side.

Thanks to every one of you for your replies.
Now I have the pleasure of putting it back.
Thanks again
Jack

Thanks michaelh. I think I will remove the top radiator hose when putting it back together.
