Help, replaced battery, car won't unlock, just beeps - Resolved
Hello. My 1998 xk8 sat for about 2 months. I charged the battery, then when I try to unlock the car, it's just beeps once and nothing happens. I replaced the battery and the same thing happens, just a beep. Please help.

Use your key to open the door. Get in and turn on the lights... got lights? Will the engine turn over?
If you don't have lights, check to see that the battery terminals are clean and tightened down properly.

Shut the doors and disconnect the battery ground for 10 seconds. Then reconnect the battery and try the remote. Repeat if it does not work the first time. It could take up to a dozen or so tries.
Check drivers side fuse #5, #15 and passenger side fuse #15.
If the fuses are OK, start the car, reset the windows (roll windows down, keep holding buttons until you hear a click then roll up, keep holding buttons until you hear a click) shut the car off, and try it again.
If it still does not work, try the battery disconnect-reconnect, start the car, window reset routine a few times.

Did you mean clockwise as I suggested?
Assuming you have a convertible, my suggestion would be to follow the instructions in this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-closed-71304/ to open the rear quarter windows from the trunk by bypassing the relays.
Then reach in with a coat hanger (unless you have very long arms) and try to unlatch one of the doors from the inside.

Did you charge the battery when it was connected to the car?
What sort of charger did you use?
Do a proper hard reset

If that doesn't fix it we'll need to look at a possible fried module somewhere.
