High Pitched Squeak

High Pitched Squeak
Hello my learned friends.
I am at my wits end. I own a 2001 Jaguar XKR convertible. I drive it like it is made of glass (except when passing). Clearly my second love after my beautiful wife and children. Having said that, there is a high pitched squeak. I had my wife sit sideways in the back seat to listen. We narrowed it to the rear left side. Parked Car in the driveway to look below. Now with motor off and parked, I was able to reproduce the squeak merely by pressing down on the fender, or up at the wheel well. I looked. I fiddled with the exhaust components. I examined the brake pad, caliper, etc. Nothing. I know that you're not here, and cannot hear the squeak, but I am receptive to your ideas as to what else might cause this chilling sound. It's like fingernails on the chalkboard to me. I can't turn the radio on loud enough to drown it out.
Very respectfully, Bob G in Florida.

Measure the ride height from center of wheel vertical up to edge of fender. If it's below 15.5" you probably need replacements. Get them from Welsh. Don't buy the crap URO brand unless you want to do the job again in a couple years.
Usually that noise is accompanied by an offset on the shock rod like this. You may or may not have the crumbly bits.
Where are you in FL?

Hello Rothwell. In reverse order, I am in Ruskin, just off US41, about an hour south of Land O Lakes, and 30 miles south of Tampa.
Thank you for the tip about measuring the height of the wheel well, and examining the shock mount.
I so much love this car, I would do practically anything to ensure the continued love. Right now she has a minor cold, and I want to nurse her back to full health.

High Pitch Squeak - SOLVED (Perhaps)
For the price of one can of WD-40 and 10 minutes of time under the back wheel, I think I solved the high pitch squeak.
I sprayed everything - shock, boots over shocks, cables, places where metal was near other metal, everything. Whatever caused the squeak, it is now gone. Coincidence perhaps, but I'll accept the solution.
Suggestions about measuring the height (15-1/2 inches from wheel center to top of wheel well, and spraying the brake petal area under the dashboard, and others) all helped.
Thank you to everyone who offered insight and suggestions. It's appreciated.
