My new 06 XK8 will not start!
Okay so first off I am new to this form and a little bit of my backstory I I'm familiar with British cars somewhat I have a 2003 Land Rover Discovery that I have serviced like crazy and I know a lot about them. But the rover is terrible on the highway and averages 11mpg combined
I want a cool Highway car so I took a big gamble and purchased the only silver Coupe that is the latest model year I could find at a texas auction for cheap! IAA insurance auction (im a car dealer) for $2700 plus shipping
I bought a silver 2006 X100 XJ8 with low miles but that's only because the miles were not available to the auction because the car was dead & must have had the inertia switch triggered because of the accident. It's repairable and the cosmetic damage doesn't bother me at all I have many good body shops but I cannot get this thing running!
new battery all the fuses look good I found the inertia switch in the driver side footwell 6 in to the left of where the clutch would be I press that it clicked I put the battery in would not start cannot get the switch to click again. Could there be another switch? Fuel Spark ignition is what starts a car so I'm missing something here also the accident this car was in had both the driver side fender and door kind of destroyed so the inertia switch was definitely triggered

Dont know if this will be any help, but you never know.
I got my car back last Christmas from some extensive work on it. Drove it home fine. Drove out to a friends place and on the way back home I stopped at some roadworks. I will not bore you with the reasons but I turned off the ignition whilst I waited for the lights to change. The bloomin thing would not start. Turned over great. Plenty of fuel etc. Got the breakdown people out they could not start it. Had it taken on the back of a trailer back to the garage who had done the repairs earlier. Turns out it was the new earth lead they had put on. Being new it looked ok etc but the mechanic had not cleaned with glass paper etc the surface it was supposed to bond to. A good clean up. Earth lead back on. Started first time!
Another thing to try. Put up the hood/bonnet. Stand in front of the car. On your left side is a large black box. If you remove the cover to that box there are a number of brown fuses, depending on what accessories you have on your car. All rated the same. The middle one of the three, if my memory serves me right, is the starter fuse. You could try swapping the fuses in case its that thats gone.
Here you go. You can read about what happened to me and see if its relevant. https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=75123&p=1064865&viewfull=1#post10 64865
