I was changing the engine ground strap when I noticed a large hole in the heat shield on the passenger fenderwell, opposite of the passenger catalytic converter. Hole looked to be ragged. Wasn't sure if it is supposed to be there, and just got mangled over the years, or if a PO did something for access?? Being new to Jags, need some sage advise!
This is a hole in the heat shield- should it be there?? Bolt hole on left is for engine ground strap in body, just to help locate where the hole is located.
Based on the pictures in the cross referenced thread, the hole is there for clearance for the steering shaft on right hand drive cars. You can clearly see the shaft going through this hole in the picture. There is no access to the O2 sensor via this hole.
