Default How can I adjust my windows to seal better between door and rears?

I'm having an issue with the seal between the door windows and the small rear windows. It's as if the rear windows aren't moving forward quite enough but if I pull them forward the seal is better. But there's still an 1/8" gap. The door window touches the rubber seal until it gets all the way up then it pushes away from the seal.

Howdy Folks:
The Rev's video worked for me. It is a must when you have the remote top controller and are experiencing window misalignment. I agree with White XKR to use the Harbor Freight Trim Removal Pliers rather than just pulling the door card off. (I cracked mine that way and had to patch it)

There may be more than needs to be done than only the front window. On my car I have the problem on the passenger side and I have come to the conclusion that there is some adjusting that needs to be done at the quarter window. I believe there are 2 adjustment screws for that and was wondering if they were accessible by just removing the top cap piece or if I needed to start pulling out the interior quarter panel trim.

Hi.

Take a look here.
It can be difficult to determine if it is the door glass or rear quarter window that need adjustment.

I think mine is in the rear window alignment. If I don't physically pull the side windows closer to the doors after I close the top, there is a larger gap.

Hi again.

In the last part of this document you have adjustment procedure for rear quarter glass.
It may be hard to adjust it correct as the wear of the spool and wire mechanism gives the hole system too much slack.

I also thought I has a rear adjustment issue but was able to solve it with only front adjustment

Before and after on mine.

What specifically did you do in terms of adjustment? My problem as been 2-fold in that in addition to front-to-back adjustment (i.e, the front window would have to move rearward and/or the quarter window would have to move forward) there is also an out-of-plane adjustment that is needed (moving front window inboard towards the interior and/or moving quarter window outboard).

The 2 easiest to get to adjustments are for the front window and are the ones Rev Sam plays with in his video. Actually those are easily accessible without needing to remove the door panel (under the puddle light and under the front speaker). I tried playing around with those but did not solve the problem. One Jaguar shop I went to thought what needed to be adjusted was the rear quarter window which is a pita.

I followed the adjustments in the manual but found that the glass was not really being held firmly in the mechanism and found that I could pull the top corner of the window backwards to close the gap, I think this did more than any of the other adjustments.

One of the local independent shops I went to mentioned that a chronic problem was that the bolts or whatever that hold the front regulator mechanism to the door frame tend to loosen up over time. To demonstrate he grabbed the front glass and was able to move it rearward and forward. That is when the adjustment got worse and I suppose I will have to pull the panel and futz myself or bring it into him to do a proper front and rear window adjustment.
