Default How old is your battery?

Probably tempting Providence but I still have the original 2004 battery in my XKR, starts fine in cold weather, no 'joke' lights or codes so - who's running on the World's Oldest ?

2006 XK8: factory battery built in May 2005, replaced in September 2012.

2005 S-Type: factory battery built in May 2005, still running strong.

I believe mine is the original (May 2005).

Can't compete with the 5 year old Jaguar battery but I would put my wife's Miata battery up against any. It was replaced under warranty in '96 and that makes it 16+ years old and still cranking.

Hell's teeth - what make is it? 'Miata' doesn't exist here.

Replaced both my XJS and XKR batteries last year. Both were working.

XKR was original and dated 11-03, so lasted 8.5 years.

XJS was Jaguar battery and dated 08-99 (fitted by previous owner as he had let it go flat, due to company car, and just replaced it before sale), so lasted 13 years!

You are probably on the tail end of it. I had my original battery (03 STR) that finally bit the dust last summer. Car has an assembly date of 05/02. So thats about 10 years if my math is right! Same thing no errors, no starting issues all was fine until it just stopped holding a charge one day...

Well it is a dealer installed battery (I think) but of unknown vintage. Looks like the person who installed it neglected to mark the date. I have owned the car since February of 2012, but have no records saying it was changed. Doubt it is original considering it would be 11 or 12 years old.

I did not see any other label or writing on the battery, and this should be where it has the date, right?

The date, on a Jaguar battery, is normally stamped in to the top of the negative terminal post! Week number and 2 digit year eg 28 05

You may have to gently clean the terminal and angle your view/the light to see it!

Thanks Stumpy for the tip, but no joy here. Top of both posts are blank. Using a mirror I did find a small label on the side (01-4650) but that doesn't appear to be a date using mm/dd, day of year or any combination I can think of.

Can't add to the poll info and guess I'll just leave it until it either dies or starts acting up.

No records yet to vote here, but mine looks as if it has been replaced fairly recently. That said, the cell looks identical to the massive BOSCH in my S8. And I just replaced it about a year ago, getting ten years out of the original. These are serious, serious batteries.
