Default How to open the middle console and check audio connectors?

Hi guys - what's the easiest way to check for the connectors on the audio head unit?

My audio went mute this afternoon on a drive, but all power and everything is still there, including the power antenna. Also, the sound from the nav lady is still there as well - which means that the speakers are fine ... I hope ... ?

When that happened, my first thought was loose connector. I recall back in the days when I worked with repair tech on the computer assembly area - loose connectors were prominent culprits on lots of issues ....

I probably need to check the fuse as well ... ? If the fuse if the issue, would the unit still power on though?

Thks!

nav voice goes through the amplifier (front only IIRC), so the amp is working too. The mute could have permanently been triggered... did you switch sources from CD to AM/FM also?

Thks Matt - that's what I thought also ...

Anyway - this morning, I was getting ready to check the head unit and the fuse - so I back the car out of the garage, took a bad CD out of position 3 on the magazine. just for kicks I turned the stereo on - and the damn thing worked.

Not complaining or anything - but I can't figure out what made it mute - all the way from Caldwell to Austin. I changed btw am/fm, cd, even tried the cassette adapter for my phone (where I stored all my mp3) - and it was still mute the whole way.

I'm happy - don't get me wrong, but confuse as heck ... ? I'm planning to trade it next year - wondering what I should write on the ad description ... ? Maybe 'temperamental audio system' .... ?
