Default How to remove headlamp/reflector XK8

The LH main beam reflector has corroded and I need to change it or get it chromed.....but how do you get it or the headlamp out.
Have an on line manual 1900 pages and its in sect 80 but there are no references on the pages .

Thanks in advance

JTIS section 86.41.33 for removing the LH headlamp assembly attached.

This diagram from JEPC should help understand how to split the lens from the shell:

+1 on the video. I started with it before removing the headlight assembly on my car for repairs. The repairs were all external (mounting points) but I have a cracked lens on the other headlight assembly and at some point I'll remove it and have to tear it all down. This series of videos is quite helpful.

John does a fantastic job with his videos, with lots of excellent info and tips, but his technique for headlamp removal isn't quite so straight forward if you have headlamp washers and/or auto height adjust options. Like him, I had the common problem of a lower mounting bolt frozen with the moulded brass insert torn out of the lamp shell by a PO (don't get me started about poor mould design and dissimilar materials dry assembled!), plus I have headlamp washers and the lower lamp brace bracket on one side was bent. So, I fumbled and fussed and cussed for most of a morning trying to get the lamps out before admitting defeat and pulling the fender/wheel arch liners and front bumper cover. It added over an hour to the job but the resulting access to lamps, washers and brackets was perfect. An added bonus was quicker and easier adjustment of the lower lamp braces to get improved positioning of the lamps in their apertures and better alignment with the front lip of the fenders. Just my $0.2.

Default No such thing as a stupid question

+1 to John “to the garage” Youtube channel.

Fabulous information source to the amateur home mechanic.

There’s no such thing as a stupid question, and the Forum members all chime in, time and again. Even if it’s something that’s obvious to them but not you.

Just “pay it forward” for the community
