How to safely disconnect window mechanism
Hello! New member, first post.
I have a second hand door that I want to take to a friend but I'd prefer the window to be lowered. Apparently it can't be wound down mechanically, in an emergency, but the mechanism can be disconnected to lower the window.
Interior trim and card already removed, seen drawing of mechanism, just looking for reassurance before getting stuck in further...
Thanks in advance

Ian,
As a newbie, you can't download documents from the forum so I've sent the door glass removal section from JTIS (Jaguar Technical Information System) to the eMail address you have registered with the forum.
Members will be familiar with the procedure and should be able to advise how far you need to go to lower the glass.

Ian,
a few things to help:
1. You can use a quick clamp with ru ber jaws to easily hold the window in position as you work.
2. Never put your hands inside the door cavity with battery connected.
3. See the Channel at the bottom of the window. the regulator arms slide in this to move window up/down. There are 2 arms fore and aft. They are safety secured with pins. Use a screw driver to remove the pin, BUT - IT IS A POTENTIAL MISSILE just waiting to fly off into the bowels of Netherlands. Know it and don't let it.
4. The arm is then secured by the plastic part pressed in. It takes quite a bit of pressure to dislodge it - this is normal. When it pops out after all that pressure - BANG! It will make noise, guaranteed to scare the hell out of you as you instinctively expect to see your window shatter. It won't, its normal.
5. Reattaching that same connection is hard.. you have little leverage. Use one of your quick clamls to press it in place (BTW did you think the release noise was loud? Ha ha just wait mate)
Hope this helps.
