Default How to stop the seat back slop

As part of my almost finished full interior restoration it was time to deal with the front seat backs rocking when in the up and locked position. So once a plumber always a plumber, this is what I came up with.

I read that the seat retainer bolt had a 5/8” OD. Which is what 1/2” copper fittings are.

Thru them on the grinder (eyeball)

It works perfectly.

I know originally these were plastic bushings however, if you see or find any let me know lol.

That looks good. Rothwell addressed this issue some years back, he found a chair leg bottom plastic that fit. I used them with success.

I saw Rothwell's fix and liked it but after cruising the big box stores and only being able to buy two dozen at a time from Amazon I decided to go a different route. The copper will never break and the soft metal will wear quite well.

That looks really good. I have been using PVC tube for the past few years, but the PVC is finally starting to crack.

I copied this trick...quick, easy, cheap and works well.

I guess both ways will work fine. I still don't see the plastic holding up well over time? As they say there's more than one way yada yada lol
