Hey prettybluefin.
i fit electric sunroofs to xk8's and r's.
have a go yourself. maybe a bit daunting at first, but once you've made the initial cut, realizing then that there's no going back. it's not too bad.
contrary to what you've been told, aftermarket sunroofs don't have drain holes, and the cost would be no more than $500.

Just an FYI on the 3M 1080 series, though the warranty on the material is up to 7 years, it is designed to be removable up to 3 years after installation.

Dsd, I’m curious as to what issue exactly you had with removing the stoneguard on your 575?
My 575 had stoneguard installed when new in 2003. We removed a bit of it to repair some damage to the side mirror. Besides the very obvious "tan line" some paint started to list with the film.

We painted the side mirror, so not a huge deal, but there is a large section on my hood that is a bit more challenging. We assume if we remove, a repaint of the hood would be required.

Probably should have been changes out years ago, but no one really talks about this.

Sossybaby,
I was checking-out your Sunroof install but the last photo is to small....How about shooting a couple more up close from above front and opposite rear....? It appears the front has a Plastic air deflector that stays in place all the time...! Billy Clyde in Houston

Pretty Bluefin,
Are your Hood Vents Painted or Wrapped? Oh, yes....The color is looking better each time I see it.....Still love the Silver! My Vents are turning Flat- Black because of the Texas heat! BC..........Houston

with the xk8, you can't fit the sunroof too far forward as the inner shroud will foul the interior lights.
inside looks great, but outside it looks too far back.
so if you fit a deflector a few inches forward it balances the roofline. (if that makes sense). this is bolted through the skin with 6mm coachbolts.
these need to pass through a conduit.
a raulnut is ideal as it deforms when compressed. you can get these for £1 each at wilko. (oops sorry wallmart).
so when you tighten the bolts the raulnut moulds itself to the inside off the deflector.
this stops the deflector from collapsing, it also acts as a seal.
took pics best i could.

Search the forum for the "Antenna Switch Mod?" Would you please tell me how to do the above, either here or in a PM?
