Gas smell inside of car
The purge valve is located in the drivers side wheel well. If that's the source the recovery system is compromised, but not a serious danger from what I have read. Still, it needs to be repaired.
Gas is very smelly, so you should be able to track the source of it. Take the engine cosmetic cover off and look around. Folks have had leaks at the dampeners on the fuel rail. I have experienced a leaky fuel pressure sensor, right at the end of the rail. Temperature permitting, check for wet spots around the rail and use the smell as a guide. And yes, this has the potential to be a big safety risk. Carry a fire extinguisher around until this is resolved.
Best of luck, keep us posted.

Imo, if you are not comfortable with it, take it in for service.
I changed my purge valve but wouldn’t touch anything else fuel related. Risk/reward.

Conditions noted: after filling up tank; when heat is turned on ( not often in FL) ; and after car has been driven- never at first start and drive. Smell periodically - maybe once a week. Smell seems to come from passenger side, under glove compartment. Not noticed smell in boot area or trunk.
Plus one on this.... had that happened on me...it was the purge valve inside the wheel well of the passenger side. It could also be the charcoal canister underneath the vehicle by the trunk.
