Default I must sell the Red Lady.

Well the time has come to part ways with the Red 1999 xk8 coupe. Its not by choice but several factors made this a hard decision. The economy won't allow it any longer and family requirements have changed to cause this decision. Haven't decided how but am open to suggestions. I really would like it to go to some one looking to pick one up at a good price plus the knowledge I have to offer about this car over the last 7 years. Looking for suggestions.
I'll post pics tomorrow and the list of what I know.

very unfortunate, but I do empathize with you; i've been in a tight economic situation, where I was forced to sell several thousand dollars worth of camera gear. If my situation didn't improve like it did, the jag was the only thing left with any equiity, but I am glad I didn't have to sell it after all my hard work, effort, blood sweat and tears, that went into it (ok, and lots of $$)

Craigs list, with a link to massive amounts of pictures, just like a good ebay car ad.

I'll miss seeing your avatar when you leave...and personally trying to diagnose your car from Texas. Each time I read your posts, I throw in the digitally manipulated studder in my head for effect. You should hear yourself...so to speak.

Hey now, who says he's leaving? He's just selling his car, not dropping off the face of planet. Surely he'll stick around to chip in once in a while.

Gosh, gee, shucks, I did not know I had that effect on people. I do plan on visiting just to keep up on my next purchase when the time comes. I would like to figure out a way to post all my service records from Jag as a way that might help others. I'll have to talk to Big Jim.

Keep the faith!

Yeah I know I said the red lady was going to have to be sold, turns out my son wants the car if I have to get rid of it. The car was not the problem it was the car, 2 doors, low to the ground, cannot tote the future grandchild, 86 year old mother in-law with a walker and two hip replacements in a two door Jag safely!

I understand, I kept the Lincoln for somewhat similar reasons.

When I was down in Boca Raton, Florida a year or two ago I saw an elderly man climb out of a Lambo or Ferrari. He pulled up to the valet, the valet walked around to the passenger side and pulled the man's walker from the passenger seat, unfolded it, and then helped the man climb out of the car and walk over to the sidewalk where his walker was waiting. At first I was thinking it was a waste for an elderly man with a walker to be driving a Ferrari. Then I thought "I hope I'm driving a Ferrari when I'm 90".

Hey, that's better than selling it to a stranger...keeping it in the family will lessen the pain. Plus, you can still see it, and maybe help work on it...and possibly take it for a spin if your careful. lol

I agree with Matt, and at least if you participate in her upkeep, we'll probably see you hanging around the Forum more often than if you were not. But it sure would be wierd to ask my son "for the keys to the Jag." I guess what goes around comes around and all that.

All the best.

No worse than my son asking if he could take the Jag to the prom! That was 7 years ago. All I remember was telling him,........ I could not even get the words out of my mouth when he replied, I know Dad,

"don't do nothing stupid"!!

So I sure I would get the same speech!! But who says I'll give him all the keys. It would be better to keep a set and then just go steel the car for a few hours and wait for the phone to ring. That is not bad is it!!!

Should work unless he reports the car stolen. You might have a little explainin' to do to some State Trooper.

Don't forget to have the title work done. I gave my truck to my son and forgot the title was still in my car files and in my name. Then my son rear-ends a guy and the guy's attorney comes after me because my name is on the title. Give your son the title and make sure he get's it transfered.
