Ignition Switch retaining screws - What type head?
I have dismantled the steering column and have access to the ignition switch. There are two small screws holding the switch (the orange'ish part with the wires coming out of it) to the back of the lock/tumbler mechanism. The screw heads are up inside the threaded hole and I can't determine what type of head they have on them. I don't want to bugger the heads all up trying different screw drivers. Has anyone pulled one of these and know what type of screws these are (ie phillips, flat head, torx, allen, square....)?
Okay, I found a small piece of glass on a telescoping rod that actually reflects light (inspection mirror) and used that, my flashlight, and magnifying goggles and was able to determine the scews are flat head and they came right out with a small jeweler's screw driver. I had been laying on my back trying to look up under the column with my failing vision..... I'm not sure why it took me so long to figure out how to do it the easy way.....
Why are you replacing this device?
What diagnosis lead you to that conclusion, the device was bad.
This is a very crucial function of the vehicle.
Careful of airbag deployment when in that area.

Actually, I'm not replacing it I am just installing a remote starter module and it is much easier to tap into and solder the ignition wires with them out of the vehicle. I just finished soldering those wires tonight.
