Default Jaguar Addiction

Searching San Francisco Craigslist Friday I found a 2000 XK8 being parted out. Call the guy about the car and asked how much you wanted for the whole thing. He sent me some photos and said he wanted $1,000 for the whole car.

Look at the photos and the throttle body, radiator, driver's door switch, and the front end were missing. I have everything except the front bumper. Told him I wasn't interested in the car and it was only worth about $600 to me. He told me to come get it he didn't have room for it in his shop.

Pick the car up on Saturday. The body and paint is a 9.5 out of 10, except for the missing front bumper. The interior is about 8 out of 10. The car has 101,000 miles. The guy said he drove the car to his, shop the engine ran great but the transmission was in limp mode. He bought the car just for the front end because he need to repair a customer's XK8. According to his description I believe the transmission problem is the A drum. If not I have a spare transmission at my shop.

I believe I can get this car back on the road again. It will be a winter project. If anybody comes across a front bumper at a reasonable price let me know. I'll even take a damaged one if I can repair it.

My wife thinks I should join Jaguars Anonymous. Isn't that what this form is?

Nice job! Imagine that finding an awesome parts car without the one thing you need....a front end. The color (in the pics) looks close to your other car. Really good find!

Brilliant find. These just don't seem to come up on this side of the pond.

Sorry to hear of your addiction. Serious research is in progress, but I'm afraid that there is as yet no known cure..

Limp mode isn't *always* the A-Drum- could be low fluid or bad battery...
