There are driving cycles on the car, specifically the Evaporative System, Catalyst and Comprehensive Component, that have not completed. These only happen when you have driven the car enough under the right conditions. For the Evaporative System, for example, the fuel tank needs to be between about a quarter and about three quarters to run the test. Too full or to empty and the test never runs. So, the best advice is to drive it. Just a caution, you may find that there is one or more codes when the monitors are finally run.

More information below. Good luck with it. Hate to see an XK8 you can't drive.

Have you any idea how those OBD monitors ever got unset?

Once set most stay set and are only unset if the battery is off (or flat) or you clear the codes.

I just went though this with my 2000 xkr. I had the fuel pumps replaced and they disconnected the battery. That caused my computer to reset. Two months later I needed to smog it. I think I have put a 1000 miles on and comprehensive component would reset. I was killing myself trying to get it to clear. All the rest have cleared. A friend is the service manager at my local ford dealer and he told me to bring it by and let’s see what happens. The tech came back and said I’m all good to go it passed here in the socialist state of California. You need to drive your car and get your other monitors to set. No A/c on and baby throttle and don’t drive over 60mph. Good luck.
