Default keeping rubber healthy, UV protection

I have to park my car outside. I know covering it is the best option, but can I use a silicone paste (or another product) on the rubber weatherstripping to keep it healthy? Also, do I need a specific UV inhibitor polish for the paint?

Spray silicone works for a while. I mainly use it on the exposed hoses in the engine compartment in an effort to postpone their replacement.

Talking Rubber Care

I got some of this stuff from Amazon - "Gummi Pflege Stift rubber care stick". Not sure what the name means in English.
Oh yeah, probably "rubber care stick".

I have used Sylglide for decades. A dab goes a long way. My tube of Sylglide is probably more than 30 years old....

I used the "BMW Gummi Pflege" for a short while,

https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...re-83192449390

but found it mostly sat on the surface in a gooey pile (Zähflüssig Stift?). Switched to

Amazon Amazon

"Meets Boeing Aircraft Specification D6-17487T", so what more does one want? Aerospace > BMW > Train!

Default Use AT-205 Reseal.

I’ve been using ATP AT205 Resealable for rubber bits. Cheap and easy to spray and wipe on.

Saw it on one of Scotty Kilmer’s YouTube videos.

Not sure how UV resistant it is, but keeps old rubber supple and doesn’t discolour.

Thanks! I read about silicone but some people say spray silicone has some oils in it to make it sprayable which can still degrade the rubber, so I may try pure stuff that can be rubbed on and wiped off.

no it is not silicone based, and has shown to be very good for the convertible roof rubber pieces.

Do a web search for "303 UV protectant". Its specifically formulated, sort of a Hawaiian Tropic or Banana Boat for vinyl and rubber.

Honda has a "rubber preservative" (had to think about that one for a minute) that works well. It's a silicone grease.

I'm surprised no one mentioned glycerine for protection/rehabilitation of rubber.

I forgot where I learned if it, but works great for me.
