key fob and associated programming
When I purchased the car, the key fobs were missing. I would like to purchase fobs - mainly because I want to add WhiteXKR's remote top mod - but wonder if the fob can be programmed DIY or does it require dealer programming. The local dealer quoted around $550 for fobs and programming - thus my hesitation
I would hesitate too!
The fobs are generally available on eBay all the time for $20 - $50 each. Not having one, you need to call the dealer with your VIN and get the correct part number. With that you can find a matching fob.
Programming is easy and detailed in the FAQ sticky above.
Nice color car!

YES - the fob can be DIY programmed.
There's two threads in the FAQ 'stickies' detailing the procedure:

Fobs are frequently available on eBay etc. Be sure to get the right frequency and series for your MY.
