Default Key transponder module prgrammung failure

Hi guys. Whilst attempting to programme a replacement ktm using sdd and a mongoose cable with a new and charged battery with heavy duty battery maintainer- I follow all the sdd instructions carefully. I get to the point were the steering wheel tilts once and then the programme reports failure to complete and i am out. Tried several times.
any suggestions welcome.

Not sure this is going to help, but the steering tilt mechanism has electric controls, including a memory function. It is a known problem area with many posts on this forum. There seem to be 2 schools of thought: one is about cleaning/replacing/re-soldering existing components, the other comes down to cutting one of the wires involved in the circuit of that variable resistor that measures the steering tilt. I ended up executing the wire cutting technique several years ago and things have been fine ever since. From memory, the "blue and white" wire has to be cut off. The good news is that the wire is there sort of in the open, and, if cut near the middle of the exposed section, would seem to be repairable if needed.

To be clear, I have not gone through this procedure you are describing. I just know the steering tilt is normally quite problematic.

Obviously, the "blue and white" wire is what is appropriate in this case on my 2003 XK8, US model. The wiring diagram would have to be consulted for your car.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

PS: Make sure you update your "signature" with your car's exact model so forum members can know what car is being discussed.

did you try just putting your keys in the KTM before trying to program it as new?

mongoose is pretty sketchy on x103s

Hi X.
I can programme my two keys using sdd but not the KTM.
This all stems from a no crank situation.
hard reset the car or clear all dtcs and I get one crank and start. After that I get the no crank state and wrong key input code reported. Fuelung always starts as I can groung the starter relay and it will start every time. The ecm has been proffesionaly tested by a company highly recommended on this forum and replaced. The eeprom swapped to the new ecm.
thanks

Program the BPM as new. If it fails, program the cluster. 103s have a bodge job immo system because the ECM expects a conventional PATS input from a car like an S-Type but the KTM is a carryover from the 90s.
