Default Left wheel noise

Hello to all!
On my new to me 1997 XK8 vert I hear a faint scraping sound coming out if the left front wheel only when making a right hand turn. At the beginning of the turn I don't hear anything but when the steering wheel has turned between 90-180 degrees you hear it. It only happens on right turns and only from the left wheel. Wheel bearings where replaced 15K miles ago.
I haven't had the opportunity to look yet.
Any ideas?

Nick

I once had the same symptoms on my 97. What I found was that disc brake shield had come loose at the bottom.

It is normally held on by a small clip (see #9 in the attached photo). If the clip comes loose it can cause the shield to scrape against rotor at certain turning angles.

A revision in later brake shields eliminated the lower clip & the shield is held more securely at the bottom by attaching to the lower ball joint bolt. I changed to the later shields when I rebuilt my whole front suspension.

Of course there are a whole lot of other things that may be causing the noise.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like a simple fix. Next weekend it gets above freezing around here, I'll jack up the car and have a look.

Thanks again
Nick
