Default Letting go

Well I'm sorry to say I'm letting my XK8 go. Got an offer by a nice lady for 12k, which is feasible in today's market even though it's in very good Kelley BB condition and only 63,700 miles on it=13600.
This is one of those situations where she is going to be gloved hand used in a really nice part of LA so the car will be well taken care of since she has her old Jag serviced by a well known Jag specialist on the west coast. He inspected it and recommended a buy on it.
I changed the tensioners so she's good to go for a long time, year old michelins and babying other than the god awful commute this last week. She got about 21mpg through some of the worst Los Angeles freeway traffic including a 2 hour 15 min 405 crawl due to an accident.
I've got a bit of a nasty commute for a while till I get moved near my new job. I'm alone here in LA and really need a putter around town that has a japanese v4 in it. Certainly plain boring transpo but the XK's deserve to be a second car that's well well taken care of not a daily driver IMO. When I bought Princess I lived 5 miles from work on surface streets, that's no more though.
Hate to let her go, she's definitely one of those cars you talk about owning the rest of your life like my Mom with her 68 Firebird. In the future when I'm more settled and own a home etc I'll get another one of these.

...and someone on this forum will be taking care of that next one and keepin' 'em on the streets when you are ready. I am on #2 right now. One will find its way to you when good times roll and the pendulum swings back to a less practical mode!

Sorry to hear XK8 has to go but understandable with the commute you have now. At least you got a fair offer and Princess is going to a careful new owner.

Once you've had a good Jaguar, others inevitably follow. I hope it's not too long before your home and work situation can make this happen.

I know exactly how you feel Art. I'm still grieving over the sale of my 05 XJR two years ago. In my case there was no good reason to sell except that I had an XK on my "bucket list". You, however, had a more valid reason to sell than some of us more fickle dopes so don't look back.

I understand. Practicality usually wins out in situations like yours. Find yourself a good commuter car and get settled in. You'll always be able to pick up another XK in the future if you so desire....

Hi Art, I know how you feel, I just sold my baby this week also. Like the guys that responded to me said, you'll be in another somewhere down the road. Cheers

Yeah I'm just waiting for the financing to come through from the buyer(it's complicated). Looking at econoboxes and comparing to my xk8 is hard to do! Love this car. It's reliable and can take the miles but I may move to a place where I park on the street. I don't want that for this car and it's a higher risk for being stolen or keyed by some jealous hoodlum.
