Lightening fried my car - P1122 code

Default Lightening fried my car - P1122 code

We had a huge electric and hail storm the other night - lasted over an hour and set off the alarm. Came to start this morning and got "restricted performance/no TRAC/no ASC" and yellow and red lights. Also noted the steering column memory had been lost. Turned off and restarted twice and all cleared and car drive fine for a mile then went into failsafe mode and my Ultraguage displayed code P1122 - nothing else.
Prior to this all was peachy and perfect - I'd actually interrogated the OBD the day before and there were no error codes>

I see from Rev Sam's list (thanks) that this is P1122 Pedal Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input.

Is this something I can fix and if so any pointers please??

Would a hard reset (as per White XKR ) with or without ignition on be worth trying??

On both my 2001 and 2005 XK8's, the alarm would go off in thunder storms. Oddly, my current 2007 XK doesn't do this!

The alarm can drain the battery very quickly and, as you know, these cars are very sensitive to battery condition. I would ensure the battery is fully charged, clear codes and see if the error resets before looking for any more complicated reason for this behaviour. A sensor failure seems a remarkable coincidence on a previously smooth running car.

Thank you Graham - good advice - I'll put it on charge overnight and see what Saturday brings!

Graham - think you could be right - just nipped home and battery voltage down to 11.5v - so on charge now and took opportunity to check electrolyte levels (battery about 4 years old) which were only very slightly low.
Fingers crossed to see what tomorrow brings but I'm thinking there's a pint in it for you.

I used to get around 4 to 5 years out of batteries until I started using a CTEK. Great for prolonging battery life and avoiding the weird electronics related errors that plague modern Jaguars.

Thanks but not yet. It's never been at this voltage before - like Graham I use a CTEK whenever it's parked up for more than a week. Voltages have always been 12.8 -13 until the electric storm/alarm incident.

If it doesn't hold it's charge after the current overnight charge i'll replace it.

Yep -me to. Have a CTEK hooked up and I connect anytime the car is parked up for more than a week and always over winter so I think that despite the years the condition should be good - it's certainly never given any issues until today.
