Default Long *** inspection

Took the Jag to get it inspected 5-18-18. It had a DSC code on the dash. The shop cleaned/ replaced the sensors and sent the computer out to reflash. It had 10 codes. Reinstalled it and still had DSC light. Sent it back to the company that reflashed it. They can’t get rid of two codes. They are talking about getting a new computer and marrying it to my car. It’s been almost 3 months. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Without the codes, it's hard to form a useful thought. But replacing the ECU with a new one is going to cost a significant percentage of the value of the car. A used one with matching numbers would be a more reasonable choice.

For the best advice you should post the list of codes found, the sensors actually cleaned/replaced and the "computer" they are playing with.

Reflashing is an extreme method of troubleshooting and, if the underlying cause of the fault is still present, is unlikely to have any effect. Of all the faults we get reported on the forum, genuine module failures are a very small percentage. Unless the shop has systematically elimated all other possible causes, they could be jumping straight to the least likely.

Quite often the solder on the circuit board has failed causing the instrument cluster warning.

Read this information on repairing the circuit:

What does DSC stand for. The repair information described above is for the ABS problem that shows up on the dash. I can find no warning light in my drivers book that is "DSC.

Directional Stability Control. You should have a button on the left of the center console to switch it off. The message will then appear in amber.

Update.
Finilly got the car back. Come to find out their scanner can’t read the codes. Unreal. Not only that I got it back with not just DSC but check engine and ABS lights on.

Lots of old threads on "Dynamic Stability Control" warning - check them out. The sensor is usually OK but the wire that connects the sensor to the wiring harness is often at fault. You can replace with OEM versions or make your own if you get the connector. I think I posted on making your own a while back.
