Default Look at these wheels

Hey guys,

I was browsing the inet for pics of an XK and check out this one. http://static.usnews.rankingsandrevi...52_280x140.jpg

Any idea what wheels those are? They look sick, they would probably look awesome on a black one.

Thanks
-Joey

Pretty sure those are 20" Senta's, but the lighting may be making them appear darker than normal. I guess you could always powder coat a set of brushed aluminum ones as dark grey.

Here's the senta

lol, no those wheels are not even close at all. The wheels in the pic have 5 sets of three spokes. The senta's are 5 sets of two.

I found them. They are the "Selena" wheels from the 2009 XKR. http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-conte...ortfolio-4.jpg They must be powder coated darker, which looks sick.

Yeah, I need to add something. These wheels are actually called the "Portfolio" wheels. They come in that shadow finish. I can get them from Jaguar for 1120 (for the front each) and 1180 (for the rear each).

After, I can get rid of my stock 19's.

Those are also supplied on the 08/09 XJs also, you may want to see what they were installing on the 06s and 07s too, you might find a few more selections that will fit on the XK. I've seen some nice XJR rims in my recent browsing.

I already called that guy. Those aren't the right wheels. They won't fit the XL. The XF's body is not as wide, so if you were to put these on an XK they would tuck too far under the wheel well.

Ahhh, going on an XF. Strange thing is, i've seen the XF with Senta's on it on the showroom, i'm surprised that these won't. Hey, at least you're checking thoroughly.

h2o, thanks for the tip. Ill do some digging today and see what else is out there. I am definatly doing a jaguar wheel. The 19s I have are good because they hide the regular brakes. I wish jag put a nice brake caliper for the regular brakes, the non r braks look horrible and that is what is holding me back from getting wheels.

You can always paint the calipers. I use Rustolieum industrial. Lots of colors to chose from.

From a pure designer stand point its not the ugly calipers that look bad its the proportion between the standard calipers with the wheel diameter for which they are designed. So when you put those nice 19's on your car the disc's and calipers are going to look too small. Just thought i should bring that up because probably every 19" wheel has upgraded brakes, or in your case there is enought wheel mass to mask this disproportion. Just be ready to look at these and wonder why they don't look as good.

Too much air space between the rim and the disc.

Just one designers opinion.

That's a good point daddy. But what do you think the lesser of two evils is? Right now, my stock 19s look good and they cover the brakes, however, I'm not nuts about them. I think the lesser of 2 evils would be to get some nice wheels and hope people won't notice the brakes. I really wish Jag came out with some decent looking brake calipers for the standard XK. It's an 80k car. I was talking to the dealer about fitting the R brakes but they said it's a huge job and probably not worth it at all, plus, they don't want the liability. Maybe Jag will muff up and come out with some nice standard brake options?

Even Porsche has some nice standard brakes. They are really good too.

I was actually thinking of doing this. Let me know what you think.. There is this company that makes Brembo brake caliper covers for like 40 dollars that apparently will fit on the XK: http://www.calipercover.net/index.ph...icle&Id=266447 I was thinking of getting a pair, see if they fit, then if they do, having them painted professionally either black with white lettering like some of the Aston brakes or silver with black lettering like the AMG ones.

Aston: http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-20...e-1280x960.jpg
AMG: http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...cd_gallery.jpg

I would probably use this logo: http://www.cartype.com/pics/3700/sma...ar_logo_bw.jpg

Thoughts?
