Default R package added by anyone to XKR Coupe 2002?

So they introduced the R package in 2003, and I have a 2002 XKR coupe.

Has anyone tried to get the 2003-2006 R package parts for their earlier XKR coupes? I don't mean the brakes, those are easy. I mean the front and rear anti-roll bars, springs and the suspension control boxes or different settings they use?

I think that puts to rest a few of my questions. The handling package definitely was not available with the convertible. So I won't dwell on that. Also, a car I was very interested in is a victory edition, but it has 19" atlas wheels. According to page 21, the victory only came with 20" wheels, which had been my understanding. But, page 23 solved the mystery as it lists the 19" polished atlas wheels as an option.

Yep, my wife's 2006 Victory Edition ragtop came with the 19-inch Atlas chrome wheels. She likes them, I do not. Too much of a drug-dealer look for me. But they're staying put since it would be a huge waste of money to replace them....

One thing I noticed in the brochure was that the XKR was listed with variable cam timing which I didn't think was introduced until the x150.

Typo?

My XK8-s has the Atlas drug dealer wheels and I didn't like them at first. I planned on replacing them with new aluminum wheels but after a while I got used to them and now think they look fine.

Here is the Jaguar brochure that explains the differences between the different 06 XK models. Page 7 has the Victory edition upgrades, mine has the Elm wood on the instrument panel and really looks sharp.

Anyway I do not think there were any meaningful other differences between 2005 and 2006 but the Victory edition did have a few small cosmetic differences and some things that were previously options were included with the package.

Wonder if it is possible to swap out the window switches to get the auto up feature. Anyone tried this?

Has it been confirmed that this feature really does exist on the 2006 models?

I looked in the WDS and there isn't a feature that can be enabled, at least not with the Jag43 software.

Makes me wonder if there may have been a little mixing up of the feature sets for the x150 which was available in Europe for 2006 vs the x100 in the US. They also list VVT on the supercharged XKR, which I'm almost positive wasn't added until the x150 model.

Here's one vote for no, any others?

Many people have been surprised at how much force the window will apply before auto-reversing.

I think you are spot on about mixing up U.S. and European feature sets in 2006, I have a 2006 U.S. MY XKR, one of the last X100s (manufactured 4/05, production ended 5/27/05) and it does not feature either VVT or one touch up windows.

19" chrome Atlas wheels were standard on the XK8 Victory Editions the XKR VE was supposed to be equipped with 20" Perseus wheels. Note: many XKRs came with the chrome Atlas wheels, I have seen three myself, my very own was originally equipped with the chrome Atlas wheels and it took almost three years to find the Perseus wheels.

Since other model Jags of even earlier vintage presumably had the one-touch-up feature, I wonder then how or where is that feature enabled/disabled on our vehicles? It may be that it is just flat out impossible (or prohibitively complicated) to convert our cars to this feature. Still this is one of at least 2 features I could think of that are lacking in these cars (the other feature being a low tire pressure warning system).

My guess is that the window clutch mechanism didn't meet the safety requirements to allow it, so there was never a "feature" that can be turned on as such.

WhiteXKRs thought about a programmable CAN piggyback controller is a way to do it, but that might pass the threshold of prohibitively complicated.

If anybody can enable that feature in our cars, it'd be WhiteXKR - go for it! I'd buy that kit in a minute!

The more I learn the less I know and the more confused i get.
I contacted Jaguar and gave my VIN # in hopes of getting a build sheet or a reproduction of the window sticker. What I ended up getting was a list of standard and options for my 2006 convertible. among the items was the super sport suspension and the power fold mirrors. Is the ss susp. the handling package people are discussing?

The brochure that someone posted earlier listed the handling pack; did not see the "ss suspension" listed so not sure about that.

I did not know these cars were ever offered with power fold mirrors, though. That would be a nice upgrade.

Yes, they were an option in Europe for quite awhile and I believe were an option in the U.S. starting with the 2004 model year, they were standard on the Victory Edition. (Frankly I had the car a year before I realized it was equipped with them, I guess I should have read the manual)

Before anyone asks here's how the work:

With the ignition 'on' and the mirror adjustment selector switch in the middle position (centered, neither left or right selected) gently pull the adjustment knob towards the rear of the car. Mirrors will fold in. Do the same to return them to the extended position. Note: after either operation there is a 6 second time period where the switch is inactive, so don't panic if you fold them and can't immediately extend them.

I am listening. Convertible owners have been asking for one-touch control for the top also.

Steelman and burgxk8, my 2002 xkr coupe has the ss super sport option BUT the R handling pack was not available until 2003
Stevinson Jaguar in Denver called me yesterday to inform me that

R PACKAGE ROLLBARS & BUSHINGS are AVAILABLE: $811.00
I will post part numbers and labor costs in a few days in a separate post, so now we have some choices besides UltraRacing rear bar and do it custom by adding a second rear anti roll in parallel vertically

You can be completely positive, VVT was only on the n/a X100 engine.

It also had fuel economy as 17 city, 24 highway.
Hi everyone, I just bought an '05 coupe from the original owner. I also have the window sticker (red brake calipers $250, handling package $3,000, 20" Sepangs $6,000). Base price $81,330, total retail price $92,245. My XKR does have the rear rubber fender extension and cross drilled rotors (the rotors come a part of the handling package). I didn't measure the ride height but it seems to be a little lower than the other XKRs I drove. For me, there is a noticeable improvement in the handling versus the other XKRs.

For what it is worth, my original owner told me that there were only ten 2005 XKRs with the handling package that were imported to the US. Maybe so, maybe not - I'm just glad that I scored one of them.

Best Regards, Fred
