Default Looking for Factory Car Phone for '05 XKR

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to buy the factory phone that was available with the 2005 Jaguar XKR. I don't really care about functionality - I just like all original accessories. Does anyone know where I might be able to locate one or if any member here has one he or she wishes to part with. Thanks!

You occasionally see these phones come up on eBay, but it's been a while since I've seen one. However, I haven't been looking. I believe that the original Jaguar cell phone, which was hard wired, was an analog cell phone. If my memory is correct, these phones can no longer be used because analog phone service was discontinued in the US as of midnight on December 31, 2007. The '05 and '06 model year XK8/R had a Bluetooth module as a factory option, I believe. However, only certain phones could connect via Bluetooth. See this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...lephone-61074/.

I thought by 2005 that Bluetooth had finally replaced handsets in Jaguar but this could be market dependent and therefore different in the US. Certainly the only phone option on my 2005 Final Series XK8 4.2-S was Bluetooth.

The last analogue phone fitted by Jaguar was the Motorola GSM.

This superseded the StarTAC in around 2001

A very neat installation in its day. I had one in my 2000 XJ8.

I've got one I took out of my 2003 XKR. It's just sitting on a shelf at home.

You can have it for the cost of postage. I'm based in London, UK.

Pm me if you're interested.

Thanks, Mark. We have the exact same color/interior combination - quartz/dove. Mine is an '05, a convertible rather than coupe. This is one of the best color combinations I've seen!

Thanks, Graham. How would I be able to determine if my model has Bluetooth?

Other than dismantling the Centre Console and removing the Rear Seat to check for the hardware, the easiest way is to try to pair a phone.

1. select Phone mode
2. enter discovery code ##3#*#
3. press Send

If you have Bluetooth fitted, Discover Me will display and the system will start searching for a phone.

Default Factory car phone update for a few jags

So I ended up purchasing a phone off of eBay that I thought would fit the XKR. Turns out it's too big. See attached photo. It looks like it'd fit into my 2002 XJ8, though I haven't tried it. I took two photos of where the factory phone would go in my 2005 S-type and in my 2005 XKR. Anybody know what these phones look like? Obviously they're the flip type but appear more compact. Thanks for the help.
