Default Loud Squeal

Getting a load squeal from around the Serpentine Belt & tensioner that goes away in about 2 min. I replaced the Serpentine Belt & tensioner and the squeal went away for about 2 months. It is back again and I am unable to pinpoint it with a stethoscope. Any suggestions?

Ok, then tensioner pulley. On your car, they were both originally plastic and have the same bearing. You changed the one that failed first, now you get to do the other.

I knew that you were going to say that. I needed the second opinion. I checked twice with the stethoscope and was unable to pinpoint the squeal. I will give it a shot!

Thank You!

Cold engine, remove belt, start and listen. Shut off engine, spin pulley and listen to tensioner pulley bearing, feel for play in bearing.

Replaced both the pulley, tensioner and belt and still have the squeal. I am going to get in on the lift to take a closer look. Do not have the time to get into it now.

Well I did add the air intake hose repair just recently. OK I will add this to my list of things to do. Went out shooting Friday and I attempted to run a competition shooting course. Had a great time had several A & B zone shots. Overall did well and want to do it again.

Believe me I thought about it! A few well placed 45 will go a long way. But loosing it would be like loosing a friend. We have become attached!

Well I was thinking that but wanted to look into it closer. Are they replaceable?

Yes you can replace the bearings in the alternator. Usually if you have it rebuilt they replace the circuit board, rectifier and the bearings. They will repaint the case or not. I chose to have it remain the way it is without repaint so it still matches everything else around it.

I had my Vette done for $100 several years ago with a lifetime garentee. I'm sure once it fails that'll be it's lifetime. There's about as much or more heat under the Vette's hood as there is under the Jag's hood.
