Default Louvers and Rain

With some rain forcasted soon, and the hood louvers being located over the MAF sensor and both VVT solenoids, I thought I would take a few precautions as the XK8 and I get used to the louvers. Mostly concerned when the vehicle would be sitting outside in the rain, not while in motion.

Just a couple of strips of tape under the openings over the sensitive areas on the right side. Left the red backing on to remind me it's there.

And just one under the left one. Hardly noticable from above. Love how it almost matches the paint lol.

Overly cautious perhaps, but seemed prudent.

Cover your electric plugs with dielectric grease. that will keep any moisture off of them. then just treat them every so often.

I remember that now, you mentioned that in another thread, I think the other louver thread. Thanks for the reminder, I'll get some!

Dielectric grease or Plast-Dip _spray or dip) rubberized coating made by Plasti-Kote.

One thing you might want to be careful of is the tape drying out due to the heat from the engine and then dropping off into the engine compartment. It is probably unlikely that a piece of tape floating around the compartment would do any harm but still just a caution.

I agree. I'll be keeping an eye on them. That's one of the reasons I left the red on the back of them. I put the dielectric grease on the electronic fittings today, so the tape is probably redundant, but it will give me a chance to see how wet the compartment gets while it has the extra protection.
