recently completed timing chain/ tensioner replacement and got 2-3 weeks (300 miles) no problems cruising. Now after warm up idle speed drops to 500 rpm and low oil press lights come on. I dont know if Im losing press because the idle speed is dropping or loosing rpm due to low press. Not sure where to start?
ps. car doesnt stall and I dont hear any noises, could it be the sending unit?

your idle might drop a little low, sending unit could be a little tired and the oil might be a little thin for your mileage. if you are using 5w-30, move to 10w-40 and see if it goes away. you might have some idle drop when you come to a stop caused by an improper mixture. check fuel trims and air leaks in the intake.

 

You should remove the oil pan and check the sump. Small bits of plastic from the old tensioners and guides often clog the sump, reducing oil pressure.

 

took a while to get back online (old computers byte) but I resolved my oil pressure issue by switching to 10-40 high mileage oil.
