The indicator on my dash says "drivers door open" when it is not open. The battery goes dead over night. I can't locate a switch for the light on the door jam like it would be on other cars. Where is the switch or how do I delete this "drivers door open" indication?

Switch is in the door latch.
With ignition on (no need to start the car) and the door open you will get the "drivers door open" message. Lights in the door will be on. While holding the door handle up, flip the latch in and out. IN: the message will disappear an lights will go out.
OUT: message will appear and door lights will go on.
IF not....Bad switch.

Like fjk said, It's in the latch. And it's a bitch to get to. Jag doesn't sell the switch separately; you have to buy the whole latch, which costs about $700. A while back someone was trying to source the switch. I'd love to get hold of one. My problem is the opposite of yours, my switch thinks the door is always closed.

Look on Ebay. There is a guy breaking up an XK8 in Texas, and another in CA. I believe the CA guy had/has door lock solenoids on auction right now. The TX guy will sell anything of his breaker even if not on auction. I've purchased a few of those parts already.

Gus also managed to fix/replace a bad switch in a latch, and reinstall...I think. Another option for repair...if he's willing.

This auction says the guy has 3. Make him an offer of $50, see if he'll take it.

Another door switch! My guess is that if you take it out of the door clean it and readjust the switch it will work fine. If you need help go to my page http://www.gusglikas.com/images/Auto...r%20Switch.pdf or give me a call. Send me a PM I will help you!
