Matching interior trim cloth
Hello Folks,
The previous owner of my XKR decided to burn small cigarette holes into the A pillar trim cloth (beyond me how somebody could buy such a beautiful car and do that).
I need to identify the colur and a supplier of the material which is foam backed. Attached photo shows the part I am trying to recover and an indication of the colour which I would simply describe as grey.
The coachwork clour code as per the descriptor panel is:
PAINT LHL
TRIM LEG KT
Thanks in advance for any help

A-pillar cloth
Minnievirginny;
There is an extensive discussion thread regarding this subject in the "How To" section, including a nice video by Reverend Sam on how to remove, recover, and replace the A-pillar as well as comparisons of material that may be purchased locally. Just type the word "pillar" in the thread search and you will have the information. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jag13cat, I appreciate your response.
Yes, I saw the video and it gave me the confidence to pull the shroud off. It looks like a pretty straightforward job but I have already ordered one piece of material which was incorrect. I just need the correct type and supplier.
It is definately foam backed.

Best way is to find a local automotive upholstery supplier. You can go there with your cloth or headliner piece and they'll pull out their catalogs with sample pieces, or take it to the back and look through the racks to find an exact match for you. Price is also cheaper (at least in my experience) than buying online, and you can have them cut off as little as a foot (off a usually 3ft wide roll) which is just a few bucks.

Did you not see the pic and post with my personal side-by side test of three (3) samples? Its in that A-Pillar Thread started by the Rev.

Thanks again for the replies. I have ordered the OX-Grey that the Rev used. A stateside company is selling it on ebay so I took the hit on freight because it looks exactly right.
H20boy - I couldn't find a supplier over here that supplied the product. Strange that although it's a British car, by far the best suppliers for it's needs seem to be accross the pond from us.

You must be in Windsor in the UK? When I saw your posting and the suggestions for US sources, I presumed you were in one of the many US "Windsor's"
Too late this time now you''ve ordered the material but it may save you money in the future. There's usually a good number of accident write-off XK8s being broken for spares by the UK specialists. The nearest one to me had four in last week.
With interiors, the seats, wood and switchgear are always in demand but they often end up crushing the rest of the trim with the remains of the shell to make way for other vehicles coming in. Consequently the section you were after wouldn't be expensive.

Yes, Windsor UK (I'll update my info).
About 5 years ago I was driving past Windsor Castle and there were two motorcycle officers holding up the traffic and out from the side entrance an XJR pulled out followed closely by some 'heavies' in a 3 litre Omega. I caught a glimpse of HM and Phillip in the back of the Jag - good taste eh?!
Thanks for the replies.
