Default Mongoose which diagnostic software?

I have bit the bullet and ordered a mongoose pro from drew tech.
Acquired a xp laptop.
What software am I going to have to get to make this rather large investment pay off?
Does anyone have copies of the real stuff I can purchase?
Thanks in advance

What car ?, what year ?

Others with more knowledge and experience will offer more advice, but I don't think there's any point in getting software which are "too advanced" for your car.
For example - I have a 1997 car which won't talk to SDD and reverts to "Legacy IDS" when connected.

The real stuff is available and is a subscription. Price ranges from $50/day to thousands. Google jaguar topix.

of course I don't need or want a subscription.. I thought there were some copies of the older software that I could copy or purchase.

Any SDD version from 125 to 130 will be fine for your car. They are common and should be easy to find.
