Default mongoose pro v143

Hi,
Hoping that I didn't squander $50 usd but I thought it might be worth the try.
The mongoose pro unit was supplied with various software versions, including 139, 142, 143.
I have a 2005 xk8 and would like to know which version will work (if the unit works) with this vehicle. I thought I saw 1.34 was the magic number and if it is, where might I download that.
thanks for any positive input...

I think that the Mongoose Pro will work with ANY version from SDD125 onward. (VCM needed for earlier version).

I don't know about a $50 Mongoose Pro, Sounds like a clone. Some good, some bad??

yes, it's a clone...hoping it will work.
To clarify, any of the versions included will work with the 2005 xk8 I have?

I believe there was a cutoff at version "x" where it was declared that pre-2009
were no longer covered.

When JLR Mongoose Pro was issued, the first version that was compatible was SDD125.
ANY Jaguar up to MY 2006 can use WDS or early IDS (that was the Standard dealer diagnostic). SDD will likely default to Legacy IDS if the car is old enough.

You will want a new enough version to have the latest data files, but not so new that a bunch of info is DELETED for older cars.

Whatever SDD version you can get to function properly is the one you need!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Motorcarman,
That is what I understood but rather than install and remove various versions I much prefer to install the one that will function. I guess I need input from someone that has done so...or a link to thread with info.
I have an older xp laptop which I will dedicate, 100%, to the mongoose clone.

According to this you need V130. I bought this kit from them, but it does not work under windows10.

So, you get the cable and a big file that is supposed to be a working Windows XP virtual machine, correct? Do you mind sharing the type of file, or maybe the installation instructions? I was curious if they were expecting VMWare, Virtualbox, or something else. Thanks.

You get the cable, two purple dvd-r discs, and two badly photocopied sheets.

The installation instructions are in a pdf on the first dvd. I did the installation a couple of years ago now and I don't remember much about it , from memory it was done using a VMware virtual machine. About a year ago I updated my laptop to windows 10 and the system no longer works so I have gone back to Auto Enginuity which also has its problems.
