Its not the miles - its the age.
You can see it yourself if you look at the auction pics.
I also had it checked by mechanic - 3 out of 4 shocks leaked out.
If your man has seen it, then go with what he says. I just haven't read of any that leaked out. Mine have an additional 8 years and 20K miles but they're still fine, although I did replace the rears as they weren't much more expensive than the bushings alone...
Once again I want to warn you that your New XKR has the "R" Package!!! It is a special Handling Package and has different Springs, Shocks and other different Parts that the Regular XKR does not have! I don't know who is ordering and replacing these Parts but you need to remind them of the "R" Package and make sure they have and are aware.....Sometimes mileage doesn't matter and age does, so I'm not surprised with the Parts you ordered....
If you will keep the Her in good condition and service her well, She will take care of you in the end! Oh! By the way! She is almost as pretty as mine!
Have a Happy Time with Her!

gtryapit..
Sorry. I forgot a couple of things concerning the "R" Package: It should have .a Leather Momo Shift-Knob with an "R" on Top and in some cases they have used a Full Leather Steering Wheel! During the 2006 Model Year. They added more of the Extras and called them "Victory Editions"! Some included the Fancy Seats, like yours! The 2006 Victory Editions also came with Dark/Smoked Tail-Light Lens, which are really good looking! So much so that I put a set of them on my Coupe...Along with reworking the Tail-Lights so that they now have LED Bulbs that work! Let me know if you decide to "Brighten-up" a little back there and I will send you the information you will need to make them work properly with LED Bulbs...

Hello everyone,
So I finally got some work done on my XKR.
Replaced 4 shocks and 4 springs and installed 2 rear wheel spacers.
Shocks are stock with CATS from dealer, springs are H&R with 1.5 inch drop, spacers H&R 15mm.
The lowering - 1.5 inch drop looks good on the front, the wheel has perfectly even gap with the fender all around. The rear is too low. I also noticed that rear fender is slightly different shape and wider around the wheel. It will require a bit more time to get it right. Already got 2 different sets of springs on order.
The widening - I got 15mm spacers for front and rear wheels. Only one pair arrived so far. Installed it in the rear as soon as I got them, couldn't wait to see the result. Looks great but rubs. Hopefully springs with more height will solve it.
Overall Im very happy with what it drives and looks like. New shocks improved ride quality tremendously. I am using it as a daily now!
Wider and lower - looks more aggressive. 15 mm spacers, 1.5 inch drop Almost there with the rear wheel fitment. 15mm spacer, 1.5 inch drop. With mods installed. Outside of my house in Tribeca.
Let me know what you think.

I’m glad I had my two e types, and Triumph TR-4a’s (& the Honda CBX , Kawasaki H-1’s too) when I was in my 20’s (the 1970’s) and could give them a good thrashing without worrying about their value or worrying about throwing my decrepit back out of kilter.
If I owned them today they would just be pampered toys and not exercised properly. Better to have the wild memories than to presently fuss over those cars like they were delicate flowers.

LOL have 2 second gen XK8's. One gets driven 1x/week for about 30 miles. Always immaculate. Lives in a storage shed w/ an indoor cover. The other looks worn (dented fender, stained soft top, ok paint, middle grade tires) but drives great. I use it to go out to dinner, day trips or just drive at excessive rates of speed on country roads. If I had to choose? The one I actually have fun driving w/o, like you say, worrying about the value.
