I have a feeling it is going to be hard to find a body shop that will take this tiny welding job. They are all so backed up around here that they don't want to touch the small stuff.
As i look at this more is there any chance the welder could damage the paint with the heat of the weld? I know very little of the process. There are plenty of mobile welders, probably border amateurs.
Doesnt look difficult ...TIG or MIG..At least you dont have to lie on your back and cut out the rust !!..Clean out with disc and the usual way is a row of spots which are then joined up and ground down ..wet rag on the paint and blow with compressed air after each spot.
You may find someone who will do it in his lunch hour for a few notes
I did not take one after it was filed down but this is the work prior to the file. The door shuts great.
I would say this is an overall pretty easy and risk-free (for me screwing up, like i usually do and ending up with a worse problem than i started with)
Once you get the interior door panel off you need to remove the speaker and the control module to get access to the nuts. Also, a joint in your wrench extensions helps. Also a platform the hight of the door helps with both taking it off and putting it one with less of a chance of dropping it (a storage bin with a few pieces or cardboard worked for me)
