Door Hinge Weld Complete
I just thought this might be a good reference.
Like others, I found my driver's door sagged. Once I finally got down on hands and knees, it was easy to diagnose as torn metal supporting the hinge. BTW - all those recommendations you might see for jacking the door and "bending" it back are useless here.
So, it needed to be welded. I was disappointed at the number of autobody shops that wouldn't even talk to me wouldn't it. Guess they make a hell of a lot more per hour with insurance claims.
When I finally found 2 places that would do the job, it was quoted at $90 if I took door off and brought it there. I found a body shop, at the recommendation of a friend in that industry, down the road.
Frankly they couldn't have been nicer. While I pulled the door card and speaker off myself, they were all in for $150. It came out perfect!
For folks in or around Central New Jersey, the shop is "Boro Collision" in Hopewell NJ. For the historians out there, its about 1/2 mile away from the estate where Charles Lindburg's baby was kidnapped in the 1930s :-).
Highly recommend.
