RE: 2001 XKR

I have the latest NAV disc (came with the car) and it works except for one thing. It does not speak unless you press the repeat button, then it just gives current status. I have checked the settings in the radio and the NAV system and all seems to be set properly. Any ideas on what I might not have set correctly? I have a Garmin Nuvi, but I can't hear it with the top down.

Have you scrolled through the settings button next to the volume knob
there is a mute setting for the nav in there.

I think I have everything set as loud as it will go. I don't remember that particular setting and will check it in the morning.

I have an 06 and the volume on the navigation system is really dumb.

It has a static volume control - So if you set the volume a say level 1 - Then when the car is stopped you can hear the voice no problem. However, once you get on the freeway with the top down the music shuts off and you can't hear the directions cause they still play at level 1. If you turn the Navigation Volume up to level 3 so you can hear it with some wind noise, then when tooling around town the woman is constantly yelling at me telling me what to do.

Why a car with so much technology doesn't have a navigation volume that is either tied to the volume control knob or is tied into a sensor that increases the volume relative to the speed/wind noise of the car is beyond me.
