Also have gotten OBDII code for evap system leak; dealer said it was gas cap; replaced; same code reappeared 2 wks later. no more codes since i close cap very tight but still get fuel smell and suspected leak problem once a week. Hope for reply from Brutal, or any tech.

this is quite common, as a matter of fact, mine had the same leak.

Often, it is a partially open/closed cannister close valve. On my car, the fuel vent line rusted, dropping pieces into the CCV, causing it to stay open and give the code for the leak.

Others have just replaced the cannister and left the vent tube, I had both changed so as to prevent it from happening again sooner.

if you search the xk8 area, you'll see a few threads recently about it, with locations and how its changed. gluck!
