Smile Need help for front shock lower bushing

I just did an inspection of my front suspension. The only thing I didn't like was the lower rubber bushings on the shock absorbers were bad. I need to replace them. I don't want to replace the shocks as they are functioning fine (47,000 miles). If I can buy just the bushings has anyone made a tool to replace them without removing the strut. They are pressed in and I know this has been done on the rear. But has anyone accomplished this on the front? And does anyone know where I can buy just the bushings?

Thanks guys. You have always been helpful.

The front shock bushings are much easier to get at then the rears and can be removed on or off car. You can purchase them from Gaudin Jaguar or Parts Geek. I think Parts Geek has them in stock for about $125-$130. I have purchased parts from both suppliers and have found them to be very easy to deal with.

Cheers

Thanks for your info. But I don't need to replace the shocks. There is nothing wrong with the shocks except the lower bushings are shot. The shocks work fine.

When I was faced with this decision on the fronts I finally bought the whole shock/bushing combination. The bushings were almost as expensive as the whole assembly, and getting them pressed out and back in isn't a DIY job.

BTW: while your shocks aren't "bad", they are still 12+ years old. I thought mine were fine until I got them out and did compression tests on them. Then I ws glad I got the shock/bushing all together. I think I paid less than $100 each for them. Bilstiens.

I think you are right. New shocks will be in the future. And I would like to get shocks that aren't quite so rigid and stiff. It seems like I feel every bump. Checked the frond bushings and they are fine and free.

Take care.
