Default Need help with a part number/name...

Hi guys & gals,

I'm usually pretty good at finding part numbers for the Jags, but this one has me stumped and I would appreciate some assistance.

First, the bad news: I was driving along at speed when I hit an extreme dip in the road. I now have to replace the lower oil sump pan, gasket and plug.

The good news: I was able to straighten out the oil cooler and there are no leaks or visible damage (what a stupid place for an oil cooler).

The part I am looking for is entirely plastic and resembles the bash plate on a 4WD (photo attached). I believe its original purpose is to deflect air into various areas of the engine compartment.

The moral of the story is, "YOU PLAY, YOU PAY!"

Thanks, mate!

I didn't know that it was considered a part of the front bumper assembly. Now, if I can find a replacement without having to give up my firstborn!

No sweat. I replaced mine 2-3 months ago so easy to refind it. I got mine from SNG Barrett in the end.

The black plastic undertray also helps to stiffen up the front bumper.

They take a lot of punishment and it's not unusual to find XK8/XKR's with the middle of it missing and only the ends still attached.

There's a new one on ebay but not at a cheap price.

These were unavailable for a long time and prices for used ones jumped up accordingly.

They are available again. Jaguar Classic Parts (part of JLR) in the UK lists it at £175 ($237) and S N G Barratt in the US lists it at $256.82.

Hi Stu!

It would be easier if we knew what year your Jag is!

My Mechanic went crazy when he raised the Texas Coupe to change the Oil last week....The Lower Cover plus both of the deflector panels have been stolen from underneath my 2005 XKR......I noticed a couple months ago that there is a lot of wind noise inside the Cabin.....Like the window was down about an inch.......Sorry to find out the Cover and Panels are gone but at least I know what has caused the wind noise...The thief did a good job-----He even took the Bolts and Nuts with him! Now I have to buy them also.

I found replacement parts at Jaguar Parts of Las Vegas! The lower Cover is Part# C2N2744 @$266.76 and the Deflector Panels #is: HJA6538AB(R) & HJA6539AB(L) @ $29.34 each.

I guess He needed them more than me???

The splitter vane is okay. I just need the undertray.

Shipping costs are the real killer when you need parts sent to Australia. Here is my quote from SNG Barratt (USA).

SNG Barratt USA <sales.usa@sngbarratt.com>

6 Jan (2 days ago)

to me

Hi Stuart,
I have asked the shipping department and the shipping of this part will be $375.00 by UPS
We will need your jaguarforums.com user name for discount
Thank you,
Frank

After shopping around for part number HJE6484AB, I have received the following prices. I have converted everything to Australian dollars in order to compare apples to apples.

SNG Barratt (USA)...............$804
ebay.................................$529
David Manners Ltd (UK)........$507
Jaguar Classic Parts (UK)......$469

If you're not in a hurry for it get a shipping price for surface freight. My replacement one's shipping cost was $77.00 USD to NZ.

I see that SNG's website has had an overhaul and the surface post option has gone for some reason so I'd suggest giving them a ring and asking.

Default Contact this man at SNG Barratt

StuG give this man a opportunity to suggest an alternative shipping method.

william.wigglesworth@sngbarratt.com

I've dealt with him on several occasions regarding parts for the 2 Jags and he has always been very helpful. If there's a ground transport method available he'll get that info for you. Also, don't forget that Barratt also has operations in England, Germany, the Netherlands and elsewhere so they may be able to ship for less.

SNG Barratt (UK) will match my best price (less my discount) using DHL. Order should arrive in 7-10 business days.

If SNG Barratt (USA) had an alternative shipping method, then they should have mentioned it in their email or offered it on their website. Very poor business practice. I guess they're happy just selling parts to Jaguar owners in the States.

Why don´t you try this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/FRONT-BUMPE...EAAOSwFyhZ-29y

or this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/FRONT-BUMPE...sAAOSwNchZ-28e

or this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/FRONT-BUMPE...sAAOSw0j9ZQhoS

or leave it like it is.

Any of those three would be a relatively inexpensive replacement. However, the seller does not ship to Australia.

"or leave it like it is" is not an option that I would consider.
