Ok, I think I picked my burgundy color. It was so hard to pick. I thought there were going to be like 6 to 10 choices of burgundy (like when you go buy wall paint for your house) but we had 100s of burgundy samples to choose from. I didn't want an orangy burgundy, or red... but a true dark wine burgundy color. What do you think?
In that light it looks more to the red side than dark wine; however, I like it and think it will look fantastic.
Is this a full respray? Are you having the door jambs, engine bay, etc. redone? If not, think about how this will look as contrast to the current purple.

Yes, Papi told us that if we were considering a color change, this was the time to do it. I wanted to get a color light & bright enough to still tell what it was on overcast days or even at night. Obviously a crappy cameraphone pic can't capture the real look of the color chip....
Great color! ( I learned long ago that women are always right about colors.) You'll want to park way off by yourself at the store after it's finished. I know the first ding would really p*** me off.

I didn't want red so I hope it doesn't look too red. I wish I could go over the samples again. It was so hard to pick with all the variety of burgundy colors.

Ok, now I'm also liking the car on the platinum color hubby (Bad Cattitude) is going to have done on half of his Jag. He wants to add a second color to his Jaguar kinda like this:

I didn't like the idea at the beginning (I think his Jaguar looks elegant the way it is now- no updates) but then we saw a platinum color on a Viper at the Classic Auto Show we went to last weekend that we both loved and so I gave him my ok for the two tone if he did it on that platinum.
So anyway, now I'm thinking what if I go with the same platimum so our Jaguars match.

Full disclosure: I am not a fan of silver cars, although it does look good on the XK8/R. However, there are tons of silver cars of all makes. The burgundy will be more unique.

My convertible top is black. I would not have bought the car had it had the tan top or the oatmeal interior. The black top and interior look better (imho), age much better (I have an XJ8 with 1/3 the mileage of my XKR, same year, with oatmeal interior, where the leather is terribly cracked), and is easier to maintain (black shoe polish about once a year covers any slight abrasions on the driver's side bolster, etc.) The color of my car is a standard Jag color called Carnival Red, but it is actually a light burgundy color. In later years there was another light burgundy, which to me looks to be the same color as mine but had a different name (which escapes me right now). After 130,000 miles, there was enough road rash on the front that I finally had the front clip, and hood repainted about 4 weeks ago. After doing that, although the rest of my car was in nearly mint condition, the clear coat simply wasn't as rich and lustrous as the front clip after repainting, so I had the rest of the car wet-sanded about a week ago, afterwhich I polished and waxed the car myself. It now looks virtually new. I have two silver cars, and while I like silver, it is now the number one car color so you see them everywhere. I love the depth of red and burgundy cars, so that would get my vote.

I think the silver/charcoal color with a black top is just too masculine looking in this case. The burgundy with black roof and grey interior is an uncommon combination and as stated looks great.
Your interior is in very good condition as is the top, just need a bit of cleaning up. So not much left to do except swapping the wheels once we get the car back.

Update: Stopped by to check on Kitty and the poor thing looks so ugly...
Almost done with the body work to paint. Can't wait to see the Kitty all shiny and pretty!

Another suggestion since I just went through this too! Update your trim from Dorchester grey to black. Later models had black. I painted my whole mirror body color and just the window strips and windshield in a satin black to contrast the new color.
Maybe spray a few cans of black Rustoleum on every exposed piece of metal you can reach since it's all apart like that. I know you're in central FL with no salt, but couldn't hurt. It does get humid here. Can't wait for the finale. Good luck!
Trust me. It's all worth it in the end!!
One thing. If you want to really do something, have the badge holes filed since you're re painting. Move the badge to a new flat inset mesh grille. It looks sooo more modern and seems like it was always meant to be there!!

I had not thought of moving the badge on the front but with the leaper there that might be a good idea. I like the badge on the flat grille, like you said, makes it look more modern and it looks awesome on yours, although I tend to like the antiquish looking Jaguars better. Thanks so much for the suggestions and feedback.
