Hi This is Bluegrass,
this is my first post and wanted to let everyone know what a joy it is to be able to learn so much from everyone on the forum. I just purchased a 2002 XKR but did have a 2004 XJ a few years ago. I am in the process of bringing it back to what is was in its earlier life and this forum has already helps answered many of my questions. Looking forward to making new aquintences.
I do have one question that will be easy for you I'm sure. What is the difference between a XKR base and a X100 ?
thanks!

Hi Bluegrass,
Congrats on the new cat and welcome to the forum. You're in good company here.

X100 was the product code for our cars at launch, so the earlier XKR and XK8 are both X100s.
There have been some subtle changes through the years, ending up with X103 for the later cars.

This thread by Benj628 shows what I mean. Post #2 by motorcarman contains a link to a Jaguar doc. showing the date ranges for the various codes:

Welcome to the forum Bluegrass,

X100 is the factory code for XK8/XKR. It refers to the coupe and convertible body style which is common to the two powertrain variants. XK8 is the Normally Aspirated and XKR is the Supercharged engine version. There were many changes throughout the 1996 to 2005 production run.
