Post New front discs - vented/sloted

I put new front disc with vent holes and slotted and new brake pads on my '05 xk8 and I'm wondering if I made a mistake choosing what I thought would be the best available. I seem to feel the discs when I step on the brakes and they will squeal a bit at times.

Any thoughts?

Just as a general proposition, drilled & slotted rotors are probably overkill for street use, but they look terrific, and I wouldn't mind having them on my car.

The problems you're having may relate to the brake pads (new ones, right?) and/or some dirt finding its way into the installation.

What kind of pads?
What do you mean by "feel the discs" ?

The squealing can often be resolved by breaking in the the front pads and rotors with some repeated aggressive braking (in a safe area of course).

Slotted rotors generally are 'noisy' (growling and buzzy feel), especially under hard braking. Some say it's important that, looking at 12:00, the top of the slots should be leading/bottoms trailing. I've never noticed any difference but maybe that's just my experience.

Thanks All..... the pads are new and they are "Red' brake pads.... forgot the company name at the moment, but I was told they were top notch. And to the feeling it..... it's almost as if I can feel the drilled holes and slots when I step on the brakes..... I'll use a little more aggressive braking to see if it clears.... they are very new afterall and I thougt the same as WhiteXKR, that it would eventually clear. Just doubting myself.

yah, had drilled/slotted rotors on a prev vehicle, you'l feel and hear them forever, its the sacrifice for the better cooling potential.
