Is a New Oil Pan really necessary?????

Gee, looks like she was right about the leak, after all. Good thing that the oil pan is easy and relatively inexpensive to replace.

Oldmots, the suction method would have saved the day here, although having a new pan is the better way to go in the long run if cost isn't an issue. I do think that the small amounts left in the pan get diluted enough to be insignificant, esp. if the oil is not that old and changed frequently. Obviously this has been debated on alot of forums, but I wouldn't dismiss suction out of hand, especially in situations where the pan bolt is difficult to reach. Better to do it the easy way more often than put it off because it's a PIA.
