Question New tires for XKR

Dear Forum members,

For my XKR (model 2001) I need to purchase some new tires (front: 245/45/R18, rear: 255/45/R18) . What are some experiences with following tire types:
  • Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RT2
  • Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3
Experiences about other tire types are welcome as well.
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Eniot

I will say I really liked my former Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports on my XKR. Had them for 6 years and 35k, no complaints in wet or dry.

I replaced them with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s and no complaints so far either. 5k on them.

Hi 80SRule,

Question: why you changed your tires into the Firestone Firehawk instead to buy again Bridgstone Potenza's? 35k Miles is a good result.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 3 is a good choice, but what about the Michelin Primacy 3?

Mate,

Your signature doesn't show where you're located. In Australia, all I need are summer tyres/tires. There are lots of posts regarding tyres. I've had both Michelins and Pirelli's and I've been satisfied with both. Do a search. Tyre posts are nearly as common as "what oil should I use" and "which battery should I buy".

If you have a red car then you will need a tyre with a higher speed rating because everyone knows that red cars are faster!

I'm located in The Netherlands and looking for summer or all-season tires.

I have had good success with Firestone Firehawks on other vehicles. I just ordered some for the Jag today

The Firestone Firehawks Indy 500 has good review. Unfortunately not available in The Netherlands.

From my own experience the Dunlop Sport Maxx is real good, pefect compromise between comfort and sport, Continental Sport Contact is a little bit better (at rain) but expensive.

I'm very happy with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 5s I have on my 20" wheels.

As the XKR is a heavy car tires with a strong side are required (indicated by XL). After some search last days Michelin en Dunlop have soms good examples. In general Michelin are more expensive as Dunlop, but wear/tear of Michelin is less.

The series of RE760 Sports were replaced with a model that was not quite the same in terms of treadwear and daily driving including rain grip. I tried to buy the same lol.

Thanks for all you feedback.
Finally I purchased four Michelin Pilot Sport 4 PS4 tires (front 245/45/R18 and back 255/45/R18). First experiences are very good in dry and wet conditions. Good comfort and low noise. I'm very happy with it.
