Summer is over and the snow will soon be here in Ontario so time to put the XK8 away for the winter. I put a wonderful 15000 kms on her this summer with 2 long trips and not a moment of trouble. I started driving the minivan again and it just isn't driving. Cruising the used Jags on the web I found that X-types are all wheel drive. So now I traded my minivan for an X-type and with the confidence of the help on this forum I now have another cat in the litter and will make it through the winter with leather and a real dashboard. Here we call them winter beaters.

Trouble free Jaguar driving. Why can't we have more posts like this.
I love driving my X Type. It is really a bit peppier than the XK8 leaving stops. As much as Jag purists hate the X Type, they are really nice cars, when optioned right, and are a lot less troublesome, when you perform your fluid changes, and stay out of the wiring.....Yours looks just like mine, except I have a bar going across the lower grill, and a cold air intake pipe coming out just under the right fog light.......It's a curse........I can't leave well enough alone.......be cool.......Mike

I am finding the X-type to not be as solid as the XK8, the doors are tinnier closing, engine is revier, and I don't thinkk the mileage is as good. Still better than a minivan. This car was missing the lower bar and it has had a mishap but is all quite manageable. New Mina grills are on the way. I had an Audi Quatro Turbo, 1987 and always thought I would like another peppy AWD for the winter, so here it is.
Nice! I too just picked up an X-Type, but mine is the wagon. I was thinking of an Audi Allroad but had to stay with the Jag family. We just took it on a trip from Monterey to Las Vegas and it ran like a dream! I found that it likes to run around 70 to 80 and still gets 25 mpg.
The X-Type will become the daily driver and the XK8 will be used for the weekends.
