New XK8 driver with dumb question!

Just drove my new, (to me) 2004 XK8. Noticed that a switch marked "S" just below the gearshift has a red light glowing. Makes no difference if the switch is thrown, red light stays on. Does this mean the Sport mode is always on or does it mean something else? Thanks for your insight! Will download an Owner's Handbook when I locate one.

Looks like the switch is broken as it's permanently ON. It's a straightforward replacement.
