New XKR Owner
I've had an X-Type for about a year but just bought a 2002 XKR today with 34k miles. Does anyone have any advice for a new owner? Also, I'l looking to upgrade the audio to add XM and Bluetooth, any suggestions for a head unit. I have Nav and would like to use the existing display with new nav.

welcome
Congratulations on your "new" XKR. I've had my 2002 for about a year and a half. My advice is enjoy it, it's a pleasure to drive, wear a hat as sometime soon green hydraulic fluid will start leaking from the little grill in front of the rearview mirror and you don't want it in your hair, and get used to the Abs/traction control light flashing as that's coming, too. Otherwise, it's a blast with the top down and intoxicating power. Have fun!

Check out the link in my signature for adding an XM and Nav. upgrade using the exisitng display with a Garmin GVN53. If you use an Alpine KCA-410C interface instead of the PIE ALP AI-AUX I describe, you can get another AUX input to Add a Bluetooth unit like the Parrot i9xxx series. The KCA-410C is discontinued, but can be found on ebay usually.
Also, at some point you should remove your valve covers and confirm that you have the 3rd generation metal tensioners.

WhiteXKR, you have exactly what I want, down to and including the gages. However, I have a couple of questions:
1. Is the screen a touch screen? If not, how do you access/input navagation info?
2. Can I assume that the stock AM/FM radio and CD are still installed and functional? Or did you replace the radio?
3. Did you do this all yourself or did you have it done? If you did it, how hard was it?
Thanks,
Mark

Some folks have put handheld nav units behind the wood panel to get a touchscreen...but you will lose the integrated XM and gauges if you go that direction.
2. Stock radio and CD are still there. Even stock nav. is still there and works (I still like the leaper and clock on the screen).
3. Did it myself. If you follow my guides, and the discussion that follows, I have done most of the heavy lifting for you already. If you would be comfortable installing a car radio, doing some interior disassembly, and basic mechanical repairs, you can do this. I am also around here most of the time to answer questions.
Tapping into the video requires some harness soldering in fairly close quarters...that is a bit tedious. I was thinking of making a harness to tap the video to make this easier if there is some interest in this. If anyone else is interested in this let me know.
