Default New XKR owner...Major car troubles!

Hello,

I recently purchased an '03 XKR convertible and have simply had no end to my troubles ever since.

I am continuously getting stopped by the local Sherriff's Deputies telling me I am going too fast. Every time they have simply given me a verbal warning, but man it sure spoils my gas mileage what with all the slowing and pulling over at the side of the road for five minutes. I think they might just want a closer look at the XKR to be honest.
And then there are all the unsolicited advances of young women looking for a ride when I have the top down. Some have even offered to "flash" me, whatever than means, in return for a spin in the car.
Just the other day I came out from a quick stop at the grocery store only to find a pretty young lady sprawled out across the hood with a huge smile on her face. And this after I had just washed and waxed the car. Needless to say it now has suntan lotion smudges all over the windshield.
What may be the most annoying part though, are all the people who stare at the car wherever I go. No more travelling around town in relative anonymity!

Can anyone suggest a solution to these issues? TYIA

Easy fix, trade me even for my 68 J2000 Jeep plow truck. Comes with plow so you can push all those women out of your way. However will not work in winter because only has one wheel drive, so the women have to be in bikinis.

Young women? All I ever get is a crowd of middle aged men. At least they don't sprawl on the hood, Thank God! Maybe I should have gotten an R. As for the stares, if I want to travel in anonymity I drive my wife's Honda. Cops don't bother me, in fact this weekend I was traveling 20kph over the limit when I saw the lights go on a patrol cruiser. I thought I was in for an expensive ticket but they pulled over the car load of 20 year old kids in a Subaru that I was passing Is your XKR red or black? Cops can't see Blue

I have a 2004 xkr which is my baby. I recently purchased a 2001 xkr in need of some tlc. I managed to get everything working well and honestly. Ive never been stopped or complimented so much on ANY car ive ever owned. Women, men, lil kids. They all just love it. And the women feel drawn to want to touch it(Its the paint...but still)

So if you only have old men googling at ya xkr..Somethings up!

This was me charging the battery after my unfortunate alternator thermonuclear meltdown

Default troubles

Just add a flag to the antenna that states NO GOLD DIGGERS ALLLOWED. That should help weed out a good 90%.

Ain't life a b*tch?
Perhaps one of these
SpeedLingerie Jaguar XK8 Nose Cover

XK8 prophylactics might make things easier to explain to SWMBO.
Sadly I'm with Jeff and the crowd of 'boys', but at least it stops the mind writing cheques the body can't cash...

P.S. I absolutely love this forum

I get plenty of compliments and stares (at the Jag) from women too. Bad news is that they are all about my age, which isn't 25 anymore.

Made us look!
P.S. I think suntan lotion is good for the leather seats when applied warm.

I LOVE IT!!!

Great "rant".

Great thread.

Yeh, ... despite all the sniggles our kitties are heir to, it really does suck to own such miserable and ugly machine, AND have to put up with all the attention.

WHEN, OH WHEN WILL IT ALL END?!?!

Very true about the stares and comments as you drive around places. The car does stop people in their paces both male and female. I have heard lots of comments like "what a beautiful car" lots of times.

Not intended for myself but to the partner they are with, as they admire the beautiful lines of this car.

Not surprising really as that was my reason for buying such an incredible piece of automotive design with such a history. I have always admired this car for years have yearned to own such a lovely machine.

I live in a seaside town in England which has a quayside full of bars where people sit outside in the summer and enjoy the views. When I drive my Ford convertable by you may get the odd glance.

When the XK8 goes by lots of people take pictures and step into the road to see what it is. I recently showed the car at a week long festival in another seaside town.

When I was ushered into the classic car display from the road, I counted numerous people taking pictures of the car and when I finally parked where told to the car was surrounded by people taking more pictures.

I felt quite embarrassed by this attention and locked the car and walked away. But it shows the effect this car has on people.

The XK8 is a beautiful car and cannot blend into the background like a lot of cars
